It was a sunny spring day when Breanna Basham and Jayedon Hexter said ‘I do’ in a whimsical backyard ceremony.
For the newlyweds the day was made even more special seeing all their hard work come together for their dream DIY celebration.
Made with love
When planning their big day, Breanna and Jayedon knew they wanted to add a personal touch with DIY elements.
Together with his future father-in-law Colin, Jayedon built the arbour from reclaimed timber and a cake stand from an electrical drum which was then topped with logs.
And the night before the wedding Breanna and her bridesmaids put the finishing touches on the bouquets.
“We wanted it to be meaningful to us,” Breanna said.
I loved her first
Straying from tradition, Breanna asked her 95-year-old great-grandmother, Little Nan, to carry the rings down the aisle, linking arms with mother-of-the-bride Sonia.
“It was very special, she was very excited,” Breanna said.
“It was a nice way to include mum, she was happy to walk down the aisle too.”
An emotional moment
The morning of the wedding Breanna surprised Jayedon with a heartfelt handwritten note.
“Originally I wasn’t going to change my name and then a week or two before the wedding I realised how much it meant to Jayedon,” she said.
“I wrote a letter and gave it to his groomsmen to give him, they caught it on camera and he got very emotional.”
The gorgeous combination of dusky pink and greenery.
